Starbucks to trial charging for paper cups (in London)
You may recall that several months ago, we told you about a way to save a few pennies on your takeaway coffee at Starbucks and co. Have a quick read here if not.
Starbucks trial – what do we know?
It’s been reported that Starbucks is going to run a trial in selected London branches. A 5p charge will be applied to anyone who has their coffee in a paper cup. The start date of this trial has yet to be confirmed.
This announcement comes following a call by the government to impose a charge of 25p on disposable coffee cups. Whether it is an effort to help the environment, or a way to tax the growing coffee trend – you can decide.
If you have not already picked up your reusable cup, now might be a good time.
Frugle or fussy
If you are not too fussed about saving 5p, then carry on as you were. Starbucks is going to donate the proceeds to charity, so you will be helping. If you are a big coffee drinker, want to do your bit to help the environment AND save some money, check out our blog post.
Don’t forget that FreeTreats.co.uk offers a £5 Starbucks e-gift card as a daily prize, every single day. That means we have up to £1825 of coffee prizes to giveaway in our daily draws, every day, for free.
Furthermore, we are freshening up the prizes for 2018. As previously reported, Crisps takes a back seat and a new prize comes to the party.
